Rhythm Records South Africa was established in the year 2000. At
the time its founder, Albert du Plessis, was looking for a record label
to release and distribute live recordings he had made whilst working as
a sound engineer at arts festivals.
Since none of the approached labels were prepared to venture in this
direction, Albert decided to establish his own label for this purpose.
Rhythm Records then came about and released “Tassenberg All Stars -Live
@ Tassenberg Stalteater” as its first project.

Street Level is a nice place. We have tea and coffee and couches to sit
on. We have a nice bar where you can have a clever beverage and not so
clever conversation. A coffee table holds magazines and books. Nice
magazines and books that could change your entire outlook on life.
Maybe. In between all the wonderful things Street Level has, lies a
humble and much loved recording studio. The studio has some nice
guitars, a blue drumkit, and lot of nice shiny things that people drool
over. A lot of studios will claim to have these things and to give them
credit, they probably do. Well done. Give yourselves a brownie patch.
Whatever. We take pride in our professional and creative environment
and treat all our projects like little children. Sometimes a little
spoiled. Sometimes in need of a good hiding. In the end, a Street Level
production will represent the many years of passion, commitment and
love we have for the things we do. All rolled up in a three minute pop
song. Pretty neat. Absolutely.
