![]() Heather Waters Music Heather Waters’ music has been referred to as honest, stirring, immediate yet timeless. Since 2003 Heather has been a successful songwriter and musician, performing alone, and collaborating with various artists in and around Cape Town, South Africa and the South of England. She released her first 5-track EP in Cape Town in 2004 and went on to share her music with the British Public in 2004/5.
In 2006 she returned from the United Kingdom to Cape Town, with bundles of new songs and an even more richly developed style. 2006 was a full year, Heather featured in the successful Like Honey Show at the Obs Café Theatre in Cape Town, she has performed at venues like SABC Studios Cape Town, The Gekko Bar, Hermanus, and the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre in Cape Town, she also featured in the musical line-up of many community events in Cape Town, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Heather Waters’ independently produced her first album ‘Lyrics in My Pocket’, which was released in March 2007. She is now promoting her album with performances in both South Africa and the United Kingdom, and her music and interviews are being played on local radio stations in both countries. Lyrically it's readily apparent that Waters doesn't shy away from hard truths. Her expressive folk rock style is captured in songs like “Walk Alone” and her distinctive voice and well-developed song-writing skill is richly displayed in songs such as “Masquerade” and “Fascinating Girl”. Heathers’ unforgettable sound captivates both the young and old. Heather is currently performing with her band, Fourie Pretorious on Drums & Percussion, Desley Meyer on Bass Guitar and Nick Kuiper on Lead Guitar, all who are based in Cape Town, South Africa.

It’s such a pity that we are almost 36 years too late as this lady should have been on the original ’68 Woodstock bill! Heather Waters just oozes freshness. Her expressive nature puts you into that late 60’s trance that, if you let everything around you fade into the background and zoom backwards into that time-warp, where freedom-of-expression reigned supreme, -you’ll get an inkling of what her music is all about. This is particularly evident as her songs are almost acted out on stage as she has an incredibly unique approach in both sound and performance. Aiden Harper MyMusicMatrix

Heather started writing and performing her own music in 2003 and hasn’t stopped since. She started performing at a Cape Town venue in 2004, while also performing at various youth events and fundraisers. She went on to record a 5-track CD before going travelling. Heather performed in and around the South of England, while also writing new songs and creating a definite style and sound to her work, which is lending to the musical success that she has today. Heather’s music somehow pulls movement out of you before you’ve even realised that your whole body has tuned into her rhythm. She’s been compared to Norah Jones, Melanie, Alanis, The Cranberries and Macey Gray. Similarities, perhaps, but it’s impossible to define her unique folk rock style by comparison, she has an incredibly unique approach in both sound and performance. Her music moves you; it gives your heart a beat. Heather is full of spunk, she’s fast and witty and funny. She took part in Serotonin Productions last sold-out Like Honey show and its extended run. Audiences loved her so much; she was invited back over and over again. She’ll be performing again in Like Honey between the 8th and 11th of November 2006 at Obz Café and she also performs regularly at The Coffee Bean in the Rondebosch. Look out, Waters is rising.
