The Carpet Mafia, Mama Know Nothing & the Bang (JHB) played at Albert Hall last night. Albert Hall is a fairly new venue at 208 Albert Road in Woodstock inspired by venues like the long gone Bass in Cape Town, owned and run by a renegade who has a vision to create a venue where the diverse cultures and people who live in Cape Town can come together and listen to awesome South African music.

The Carpet Mafia opened up the night's line up, playing their very funky grooves who had the small but enthusiastic crown up and dancing and all the girls throwing their panties on the stage, all true, except the panties part. The Carpet Mafia is a Cape Town based jam band who have been around for some time, they're definitely worth catching. You can visit the and listen to some tracks at www.myspace.com/thecarpetmafia

Mama Know Nothing played the second slot, now this band is definitely something to soothe the eyes and ears. The three gorgeous and very talented girls in the band are also known as Black Betty, playing mostly original compositions and at least one well arranged cover. You can catch them along with the Bang and Jules from Jules and the fools at Zula on Wednesday night. Hopefully they will get into a recording studio sometime soon but meanwhile, you better get out to see them live because they'll blow your mind.
