Howard Roark is a fictional character that has strong beliefs on individualism and functionality within our modern society. Howard Roark is a fictional character that became a similarity in aspiration amongst four Cape Town creatives. They came together to make music that has nothing to do with Howard Roark, the fictional character.

Nigel Moore, lead singer and synths, started a music project called ‘The Body Corporate’ at the end of 2006. Struggling to find dedicated musicians the project nearly died in June 2007, when nothing much had materialized musically (with the exception of ‘Heaven is for Lovers’ – written by Gareth Visagie / lyrics by Nigel Moore).

Then he was introduced to guitarist, James Boonzaier, by another substitute. Drummer, Chris Slabber, who merely filled in to audition a bassist, fell in love with the sound too, and the final ingredient was Ruan Vermeulen on bass guitar. A completely new line-up, needed a new name, and Howard Roark was born.

A successful launch tour with Lark, New Loud rockets and Desmond & The Tutus in August 2007 catapulted the act into the South African music scene. A professional attitude towards performance and presentation makes Howard Roark a band to look out for and enjoy.
