 Last Monday night I paid another visit to Swingers Jazz Jam session and was lucky enough to be there on a night when Melanie Scholtz and Erica Lundi were in the house, no change they could come without doing at least a few numbers. The Settlers High School Jazz Band also performed a short set.
Swingers Jazz Clib is an institutionion in Cape Town, a large percentage of visiting musicians end up there on Monday nights. The house band is made up of Alvin Dyers on guitar, Alistair Andrews on bass, Denver "the fiery furnace" on drums, Ivan Mazuze on saxophones and a keyboard player, last Monday it was Nicolas, not sure of his surname. I have a whole host of photos as well as a short video clip of Melanie Scholtz. Darren was a member of the Little Giants as well which is a youth Jazz band run by well known Jazz educator George Werner. Darren has already performed alongside many of Cape Town's great jazz musicians.
