On Saturday 7 February award winning, renowned French singer/actor/ playwright Dr Danièle Pascal will be celebrating her birthday. Daniele needs no introduction to music fans. She is one of South Africa’s most celebrated performers, and has been an influential force on the entertainment circuit since her arrival in 1985.
She popularized the French chanson to new levels with her unique and intimate approach. Whether she sings in French, English or German, her style is elegant and sophisticated. Born and raised in France she developed an adoring audience base through her popular live concerts. She has been compared to Edith Piaf as she sings with her heart and soul from her vast repertoire. Her latest Cd Parisette which is a selection of French Café Songs is currently a bestseller in this music genre.
Daniele recently received the Showtime Award in the category Best Cabaret/Theatre for her portrayal as Edith Piaf in the music-drama Piaf a Passionate Life, which played to critical acclaim throughout South Africa since November 2007. It has been rated as one of the most successful shows of the year at Artscape. She also received Western Cape Services Award for Outstanding achievement of Women in the fields of Arts, Culture by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport.
