Authors’ rights under the spotlight at ANFASA conference

The Academic and Non-fiction Authors’ Association of South Africa (ANFASA) will celebrate its 10th anniversary by reflecting on the issues facing writers today, during a conference in Boksburg from 13 to 15 March 2014.

The annual Gcinamasiko Storytelling and Book Celebration Festival will be held at the Diakonia Centre in the heart of the city, on Friday 25 October from 9am until 5pm.

The finalists in the inaugural National Arts Festival/Business and Arts South Africa (BASA) Arts Journalism Awards have been announced. Each finalist is a “Silver Award” winner. Gold Award winners, together with the overall “Arts Journalist of the Year”, will be announced in Grahamstown on 30 June 2013.

The KZN branch of the Writers Guild of South Africa (WGSA) continue their monthly meetings and writing-related workshops with an informal discussion on Characterization, by Dr Eubulus Timothy. WGSA’s meeting, and discussion on Characterization, is open to members of the public, and takes place on Wednesday 22 May from 18h00 to 20h00 at Eatwise, 41 Marriot Road, Morningside, Durban.
