The National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, which is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year, has announced a landmark Main programme which will feature the work of 65 former Standard Bank Young Artist Award winners; artists from 26 countries; over 550 performances in Theatre, Dance, Performance Art and Music; nine specially commissioned music works; musicians with more than 40 South African Music Awards and three Grammy Awards under their belt, and an ambitious, sprawling ‘Creation of a Nation’ project across Grahamstown.

The National Arts Festival and the City of Cape Town today announced a partnership which will see the launch of a new performing arts festival in September, modeled on some of the world’s iconic events.

Bold changes for ACT funding strategy

The Arts and Culture Trust (ACT) heralds its 20th year with changes to the format of its funding programme, refining its practical vision towards greater sustainability for the industry.

The National Arts Festival, Grahamstown and Business and Arts South Africa (BASA) are pleased to call for entries to the second annual South African Arts Journalism Awards. The awards identify excellence, expertise and creativity. In doing so, they promote the practice of arts and cultural journalism, strengthen its national profile and celebrate its importance, range, diversity, fluidity and vitality.
